Burn Management – 2012 workshops

 

Each workshop will be presented by one of the following:

Topics:

  • Epidemiology
  • First aid & emergency management of burns
  • Chemical burns
  • Electrical burns
  • Wound management
  • Transfer criteria

On completion of this workshop, participants will:

  1. Be able to detail appropriate methods of first aid, including the management of chemical and electrical injuries
  2. Recognise the signs & symptoms of inhalation injury and discuss the importance of the early recognition of airway compromise
  3. Be able to determine the extent of burn injury using the Wallace Rule of Nines or Lund & Brouder Chart
  4. Discuss the transfer criteria for burn patients
  5. Assess and appropriately manage minor burns
