- An approach to trauma management
- Essential equipment & resources
- Principles of Major Incident Management
- Methane reports
- Reading the scene
- Radio usage
- Live Extrication – car crash involving local services (SES, SAAS, CFS)
- Packaging the trauma patient (with live patients)
- Scene safety
- Skills stations
- Airway/Pre-hospital Anaesthesia
- Management of Chest Trauma
- Intraosseous/IV Access (rapid expansion)
On completion of this workshop, participants will:
- Be familiar with the principles of major incident triage, including prioritising patients and patient care and safety
- Be prepared and confident to manage a major incident scene, by having an ‘Accident Management Plan’ ready to implement
- Know what the common trauma situations are likely to be at a major accident scene and be familiar & confident in practical intervention on site
- Understand retrieval requirements, communicate details and be able to implement initial treatment
