WORKSHOP 1
A workshop to identify key research questions and gaps in the evidence base underpinning the Australian reform agenda

How will we know that the National Reform Agenda is making an important difference to the future health and well-being of all Australians?
If you are interested in the outcomes and effects of public policy – this workshop is for you.
You will probably be working as a health executive or manager, a clinician or an academic.
Come along and participate in identifying and analysing what should be measured and how, so that we better understand the impact of health policy and the health system on people’s lives and their health.
This workshop will be interactive – a great panel of experts will engage with you in:
- discussing the Reform Agenda and how it might be evaluated;
- identifying evidence gaps and important research questions for the future.

- How to get a research project going;
- How to measure and research health governance and outcomes;
- How to seek funds and write a grant application;
- Tips on writing various types of publications.
You will also have an opportunity to contribute to the agenda for the day.
WORKSHOP 2
A workshop to identify the key issues for health facilities when implementing the Australian reform agenda
Join up with your colleagues to discuss some practical responses to the health reforms
If you are an executive, manager or senior clinician in the public or private healthcare sectors you cannot afford to miss this important workshop.
Our workshops will discuss and answer some of the major questions arising from the agreed national health reforms.
Our major topics will be:
- How will the States and Commonwealth work together at various levels of the new system?
- How should Local Hospital Networks (LHNs) and Medicare Locals interact and integrate services?
- What should the main elements of a LHN Service Level Agreement look like?
- How should LHNs and Medicare Locals engage with the local communities and clinicians, including medical specialists and other providers who may work across boundaries?
- How will the changes impact on and facilitate service redesign to achieve new targets?
- What about the missing pieces – out-of-hospital specialist care, e-health, oral & dental health, mental health, Indigenous health?
- What impact will the changed environment have on skills requirements, employment and workforce roles of LHNs and Medicare Locals?
