Professor John SearProf. John Sear (Nuffield Dept. of Anaesthetics, University of Oxford), has various interests, including the study of the mechanisms of action of intravenous and inhalational anaesthetics; the management and related cardiac outcomes of arterial hypertension in the surgical patient; intravenous drug kinetics and dynamics during anaesthesia and the postoperative period; and the clinical pharmacology and anaesthetic management of patients with diabetes mellitus, liver disease and chronic renal failure. |

Professor Mark WarnerProf. Mark Warner (Professor of Anesthesiology, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota), is currently Dean of the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education and is a member of the Mayo Clinic Rochester Executive Board. Mark serves in the leadership of a number of national anaesthesiology organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists. His main interests are in teaching, paediatric anaesthesia, healthcare administration and perioperative outcomes research. He is an editor of Anesthesiology. |

Dr. Archie BrainDr. Archie Brain (sponsored by LMA PacMed) is well known to all anaesthetists as the inventor of the laryngeal mask airway, and its various modifications. This Congress will offer a rare chance to hear from him in person. Dr. Brain, inventor of the LMA, continues to create additions to and variations of the original LMA. At present, these include seven sizes of the original (LMA-Classic), a single-use LMA (LMAUnique), a reinforced/fl exible LMA (LMAFlexible). He has had a career spread over many years and across three continents. |

Associate Professor Pam MacintyreAssociate Professor Pam Macintyre is a staff specialist in anaesthesia at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH). She has been the Director of the Acute Pain Service at the RAH since it was established at the beginning of 1989. In 2006, Pam was awarded the Robert Orton Medal by ANZCA for services to anaesthesia and pain medicine. She has co-authored a text book on acute pain management and co-edited another. She is also Chair of the ANZCA and FPM Working Party responsible for the development of the 2nd edition of Acute Pain Management: Scientific Evidence (work on the 3rd edition is currently underway). |

Dr. John LoadsmanDr. Loadsman is the Conjoint Senior Lecturer and Senior Staff Specialist in Anaesthetics, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. He has a major research interest in the field of obstructive sleep apnoea, receiving his PhD on this subject. John is an editor of the journal Anaesthesia and Intensive Care and a reviewer for a number of well respected international journals. He is also interested in information technology with regard to website design and tinkers with electronics in his spare time. |

He is a three times winner of the Research Award of the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society and is the co-author of the textbook: "Management of the Difficult and Failed Airway". |
