    By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

    • Outline the assessment and clinical reasoning skills used in the differential diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries with a particular focus on the shoulder and knee.
    • Apply a systematic approach to the management and rehabilitation of a patient suffering from musculoskeletal pain.
    • Identify and manage significant barriers to rehabilitation and how to work with the patient and team to achieve a safe, sustainable return to work.
    • Enhance your critical role in completing the work capacity certificate to achieve a timely return to work.

    Dr Karthik Badrinath, Sport and Exercise Physician

    Dr Karthik Badrinath is a specialist Sport and Exercise Physician who is passionate about providing expert musculoskeletal care. He is currently a team doctor for the Adelaide Crows AFL and SANFL teams and an AFLW match day doctor. He is a tournament physician for the Adelaide International tennis tournament and was the Afghanistan cricket team doctor for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 world cup. Dr Badrinath is a dual-fellowship trained medical specialist obtaining his Sport and Exercise medicine fellowship (FACSEP) in 2022 and his Fellowship in General Practice (FRACGP) in 2018. He is also a qualified physiotherapist completing a physiotherapy degree at the University of South Australia in 2009.

    Chris Casiero, Exercise Physiologists

    Chris is an accredited Exercise Physiologist graduating from a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement and Health Science) in 2011 before completing a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Exercise Science in 2012 at the University of South Australia with over 10 years in the health and fitness industry. Chris’ experience spans across a range of environments including private practice, commercial gyms, corporate health, and involvement at UniSA with students and new graduates. He has found his passion around educating others on what exercise can mean for them and the importance of living an active lifestyle.

    His areas of interest include: Pre/Post surgery rehabilitation; musculoskeletal conditions; improving mental health and wellbeing; individualised exercise programs and exercise for chronic disease management.

    Cassandra Zaina, Physiotherapy Advisor, ReturnToWorkSA

    Cassandra is a Specialist Occupational Health Physiotherapist and has a Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (1997). Cassandra is a passionate clinician with over 28 years private practice and occupational health experience and has also worked as a clinical lecturer and educator at the University of South Australia. Cassandra currently works as a Physiotherapy Advisor at ReturnToWorkSA and is developing an online program to encourage good work habits for primary school aged children called Hands up! For Health!
